To quickly access health information from your website's browser, download The “Pinkie” Story April 2006 I noticed a small red bump on the outside of my right pinkie…it looked just like a cherry angioma…I kept an eye on it as it grew swiftly, by July it was the size of a dime and had opened up and was an open wound which did not respond to over the counter antibiotic ointment. It was the weekend and I had decided to see my Doctor the next week when on Saturday July 28, 06 I was bitten on my left leg by a spider on the patio, that evening I visited a friend in the hospital and we think..picked up the MRSA staph infection in my spider bite, three days later I was at my Drs. with MRSA in the bite but not in the sore on my pinkie…Dr. sent me to Dermatology and he sent me on to Plastic Surgery….all this taking time I finally had a biopsy to my pinkie in Oct.06 it came back as squamous cell and I had surgery Dec.7 06 a week post op my surgeon told me that it was something worse…I had T-cell lymphoma and would be undergoing all kinds of testing…I had MRI’S,CT scans and PET scans..I was sent to see Dr. of Raidiation and Chemotherapy to begin treatment for all the places where Lymphoma was found. I asked him how soon would we get started?and his reply was that he was more worried about the Tumor in my head!! I had a nerve tumor that had wrapped itself around my spinal cord, spinal artery and a nerve at c-1 and if it didn’t come out it would paralyze me.My moral of this story is this listen to your body…I had problems in this area for 3 years and just accepted that oh it’s nothing…not anymore. And another thing have more than one or two or three people for that matter look at your films, not one person saw this little flicker on my PET scan except for my chemo Dr.not the exray tech. or even my oncologist So listen to your own body you and you alone know when something has gone amuck…Im not telling you to go crazy with looking for every little thing but you know your own body listen to it and don’t let sores or wounds that won’t heal go unlooked at right away…and above all incist on those tests..I didn’t but I got lucky…it won’t happen again,it’s your body INCIST!
