June 1st, Second Time

by: Kathie on Mon, Jun 02 2008

Hello, I was first diagnosed with BC in Feb, 1992, I have had 16 good years, thanks to family, friends, acquaintances and total strangers. Today is my second time for being a breast cancer survivor. I, two weeks ago, had a total masectomy after a lump showed in my mammogram. Luckily, the Dr. biopsied it right away, and a week after that it was time for surgery. The Dr. explained to me all the different ways of going through the surgery, I said to her, “I don’t want to come back here, please take them both and I will be cancer free-AGAIN”. As I said, it has only been two weeks, but I know that I did the right thing, I had the total masectomy and reconstruction at the same time. It hasn’t been easy, but the medical staff couldn’t be more helpful and my family and friends are giving me an extreme amount of hope and love. Please except help, read up on this as much as you can, I know we all do things differently but this is what helps me and I feel stronger each day. Wishing you all good health and speedy recoveries.
