Living with prostate cancer

by: ALAN on Fri, May 02 2008

2001, I’m diagnosed and start radiotherapy treatment. It fails and my PSA starts to climb again. I’m monitored every six months until now 2008 when I am due to start hormone treatment. I’m told this will destroy my testosterone (on which the cancer lives) and I’d like to know if there is anyone who has gone through this and what effect it will have on me? I’ve heard it’s mostly menapausal symptons - hot flushes, possible weight gain, mood swings. But I’ve also heard it can change your personality quite drastically! How does your body react to losing testosterone? I’m writing from England and I’d love to get some response to this. Thank you.
